For many years I thought I was a fat chick who could not say "no"....to food. Many people (those who have not lived a food addiction life and refuse to believe it is real) would still say that. But the more educated on the subject of food addiction I become and the more I eat healthier, I become more convinced of the falseness of that. This is what it was like growing up in "my" eating world....I would wake up hungry. I would eat breakfast and while eating breakfast I would plan my next snack (generally something sugary) and I would think about what I would have for lunch. When I was done with breakfast i would then ask my mom what was for dinner and after dinner dessert. Food- it was always in my thoughts and on my mind. I ate like every meal was my last and I would never taste that food again. That thinking made me eat more then I needed.
That has changed....Thank God. It was a hard way to live. The food life I have chosen is a choice. I decide what I am going to eat. There are really no foods that I CanNOt eat, just foods that I Choose not to eat. Another choice I have made is not to try and force my family to eat like I do. I hope that through my choices and how good I feel, that I will be a good food role model. I understand that the more I push others to eat like me the more I will be pushing them the other ways. It has to be a choice we make for ourselves or it could back fire!! Anyways...enough of that....
So, I made it through Easter. I made baskets for the girls with some candy and a special treat in the form of something like a gift card, etc...
I made a meal with something for everyone. We had ham (enjoyed by everyone) and then mashed potatoes, stuffing and yummy rolls. Now, usually I would eat all of it but because of my food lifestyle choice I did not eat the stuffing or yummy rolls but instead enjoyed the ham, some potatoes and some of my own homemade sugar and yeast free bread that I made that morning. Was it difficult to forgo some of the things I chose not to eat. No, not really. Since I made some things I enjoyed also it was a lot easier. Oh, I forgot to mention the asparagus that I made. That is one of my all time favorite veggies! Plus, almost everyone else enjoyed them also!
Enough for now! Next recipe will be coming soon.....
