Are We Supposed to Eat This Stuff?

My name is Mary and I have an addiction. No, I don't smoke, drink, gamble and I hate to shop. My addiction is to something that seems to be in almost every processed food out there. It is sugar. At one time I think I would have thought that someone was crazy for telling me that a person could be addicted to something like that. I now know it is truth and I have suffered with this addiction all my life. The more I eat of the stuff the more I want it. How do I know it is an addiction? Try going with out any type of sugar for 2 days. Your body goes through withdrawals. And sugar has many names. More names then I could possibly put on this blog. It is hidden everywhere. I gave up sugar (in all forms except whole fruits) and white flour about a month ago. Those 2 ingredients were responsible for making me feel sick, tired and to gain wait. And the benefit to this eating lifestyle? I feel better, stronger, my head is clearer, my blood pressure is lower (i am hoping to decrease my blood pressure medication) and I am losing some very unwanted pounds. It is not always easy and I have to read EVERY label but I feel it is well worth the benefits.
So, I am going to start putting recipes on my blog. I think it will be about one recipe a week. I have this new recipe book and I have decided to try one new recipe a week. If I like it I will post it. This should be fun!

High-tech tomatoes. Mysterious milk. Supersquash. Are we supposed to eat this stuff? Or is it going to eat us? ~Annita Manning

Excellent post! Wow, thanks for the reminder, I really needed that. Have been letting little bits slip back in and man do I feel it...it just is NOT worth it. Thank you for reminding me (once again) how important it is to stick to it religiously...consider me a new convert. Even a little white flour on occasion was making the cravings start. And I LOVE the recipe every week idea!! I really need that and am looking forward to it! Love you.
