Stranger Things Have Happened

I used that phrase today..."stranger things have happened" as the girls were playing and I think it is the first time in my life that I said that. I don't know why it struck me so much but after I said it I kept wondering where it came from. The more I thought about it the more I realized that life is full of strange happenings. Some happenings are more or less strange then the last. But how often do we actually think about it. Anyway, enough of that (yes, that was strange and very random).....

Last night was Halloween. The girls made me walk, walk, and walk some more. I think we hit about 1.5 miles. Unfortunately we live on a busy street and only a couple houses do the whole candy thing on our road. Luckily for the girls, we live in a neighborhood with many homes and just a half a block away we get off the busy road and that is where we do most of the trick or treating. We did not see as many trick or treaters this year but we were definitely not alone. The girls came home with a bunch of candy in there pillow cases and there father was pleased...hahahaha.....
Abby is lucky enough to have a friend down the street that lives on a small farm. They have 5 horses, 2 mini horses (that might possibly be pregnant), many chickens, ducks, 3 goats (2 of which may be pregnant), 2 dogs, a pot bellied pig, rabbits, white doves, a squirrel and i am sure more that I am missing. Abby and Angela just finished taking a class at this farm. There was a variety of activities including hiking in the woods, decorating gourds, learning about the animals and horse back riding. With all this the girls were learning sign language to go along with the activities. I have to say that I enjoyed it just as much as the girls did. I love animals and it was just so much fun to have the freedom to pet them when ever and just watch them. I think the girls really enjoyed be able to ride Cowboy, the horse. Well, I think Abby enjoyed it more. Angie has a lot of respect for animals but is very cautious. She got on the horse but once up there decided riding wasn't for her. She will pet it, brush it, feed it and just enjoy watching it but riding the horse was not her thing. Here are some pictures from the farm experience....

Tina, if you are reading this you will love this next picture. This is Bonnie and she is great. She is so friendly and loves people....

The girls are also involved in an activity called Faith Weavers. It is every Friday night at a local church. The kids are separated by age and they do various activities. In one night they will go to arts and crafts, gym class, secret project class (which sometimes is science...etc...), snack and music (I think that is it). They did this last year also and really love it.

Abby is in Gymnastics at a local dance studio on Monday nights. Both girls are starting Karate on November 5th and will do it 2x per week for the next several weeks. This is at a local Karate place and they are having the class during the day for homeschooling children and at a smaller rate. They are both looking forward to this, especially Angela. Abby was not going to do it but a friend of hers, who is also taking it, talked her into it.

Andy is taking an EMT course at the local Community College (5 minutes from our home). He seems to be really enjoying it. He hopes to start volunteering soon. He will hopefully be volunteering for an ambulance service in Suffield, the next town over from ours over the river. The girls get a kick out of it because we all pretend to be casualties and he has to practice working on us.

Well, that is all there is for now. The girls are back in there costumes playing "vampires".....yeah, hahahaha, you read that right......
